Harrick Plasma is excited to partner with FesariusTherapeutics Inc., maker of DermiSpere™, a dermal regeneration scaffold that promises game-changing efficacy in a $5 billion addressable market. DermiSphere utilizes patented collagen microsphere hydrogel technology invented at Weill Cornell by company co-founder Dr. Jason Spector, a practicing plastic and reconstructive surgeon and founder of the Laboratory for Bioregenerative Surgery and Medicine at Weill Cornell, where Fesarius’ underlying technology was developed. Fesarius recently received a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase I award and expects to apply for FDA 510K clearance by December 2020.
In its manufacturing process for DermiSphere™, Fesarius utilizes the Harrick Plasma Expanded Plasma Cleaner to make hydrophilic a critical raw material which is naturally hydrophobic. Chief Scientific Officer, Yulia Sapir-Lekhovitser, had this to say about the role of the Harrick Plasma Cleaner at Fesarius: “It’s an amazing machine that does something without which we would need to take an entirely different, and more complicated approach to achieve what we do with the Plasma Cleaner”.
